Meeting: Saturday, July 21 from 3pm - 4:30pm

We hope you've been enjoying your summer! Take Control for Women is a great opportunity to meet with Karen, our discussion leader, and other women just like you to discuss menopause and the effects this change has on your life.

Our next discussion is this Saturday, July 21st from 3pm - 4:30pm.

All you need to bring:

First, bring a friend. Remember, they do not have to be a BodyByGeoff client to attend and after our last meeting, you can feel comfortable assuring them there is no pressure or pretense here. Simply everyone learning and exploring together.

Second, please bring a recipe that has worked for you in controlling weight, can be prepared in 30 minutes or less and is enjoyed by your entire family.

Our upcoming August and September meetings are scheduled and we have great topics to discuss, but we're always looking for your input and interests, so bring your discussion topics and ideas.

Since everyone will be sharing tips it would be a good idea to bring a notebook and/or something to write on as well.

Thanks and please let us know if you are coming. Saturday, July 21 3:00pm - 4:30pm.

You can e-mail information@bodybygeoff.com or call (703) 464-5559 to sign up.

Introducing Take Control for Women

This month, BodyByGeoff Health & Fitness launches Take Control for Women focusing on the special needs, concerns and interests of women who are pre, peri and post menopausal. Guiding the development of the new program is Karen Cleveland, former Executive Director of the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and currently Executive Director of Northern Virginia Habitat for Humanity. Karen answers questions posed by women who have expressed interest in this new program. Read below for more...

Karen, why this special program for women?
The focus of this program is to empower women to do exactly what the program says: take control. You can’t ignore menopause, but neither should you obsess about the changes taking place. Instead, use this time to assess your health and fitness goals, your own body image aspirations and your lifestyle commitments.

How do you blend health and fitness goals into this program?
Through changes in your diet and exercise, you can achieve a goal of losing, not gaining, weight. You can use the natural benefits of increased cardiovascular exercise to improve blood circulation that enhances skin tone and brings vitality to your overall appearance.

Won’t I hear all of this from my doctor?
Unfortunately, that’s not likely to occur. Instead, your best allies for turning menopause into a moment of positive change are your contemporaries who have the same interests you share in taking control.
